Why Camino?
After Rowan and Margaret cycled the 1200 year old Camino de Santiago pilgrim route in Spain, the profound experience steered them to the Blue Mountains and to Glenella where they planned to offer warm and welcoming hospitality in a great environment.

Fortuitously, and way back in 2015 Margaret and Rowan together with Blackheath locals Tony and Ce founded the Blue Mountains Camino Supporters group after holding an inaugural dinner with guest speakers one cold Friday night in May. The evening was too good to remain a one-off, and thanks to the support of so many volunteers and attendees the group has gone from strength to strength.
Glenella is proud to play a role in fostering the Camino Spirit in the Blue Mountains, bringing people together to share their interest and experiences walking a Camino. Importantly, many of those starting out as ‘just interested’ have been helped in their preparation and gone on to become ‘graduates’ – walking their own Camino. 10 Years at Glenella
In 2025 the Blue Mountains Camino Supporters group celebrated!
In May 2015 the Blue Mountains Camino Supporters (BMCS) was founded in the Glenella front lounge. Since then the group has grown to hundreds of participants who enjoy Camino de Santiago pilgrimage related events and activities, many of them held in the ‘spiritual home’ of the BMCS – Glenella.
